The location and size of the house nearby Havel correspond to its rural enviorment and are part of the conceptual approach : In its urban design, the new building leans against the existing buildings in its vicinity. Its colorful wooden facade, gives the house its own identity and at the same time integrates it into its surroundings.
The house is a new wood construction building; the use of wood as a renewable raw material with its long tradition gives the house its qualities: As a highly thermally insulated stud framing, the house offers energy-efficient living comfort. The wood also characterizes the interior design: the wooden construction is easly recognizable from the inside, and wood looring is used all over the house. The visible unspoilt wood contributes sodurch its aesthetic quality to the comfortable living and atmosphere in the house.
The use of wood as a facade cladding engages a dialog with the sourrounding nature and its vagitation.
The living space, kitchen and dining area on the ground floor are open and reciprocally arranged fluently, facing the garden: so visual connections are made possible and assure a feeling of generosity in spatial perception. Upstairs, next to the master bedroom, there are two seperated workspaces, with an open view to nature, engaged with the use of corner windows.
The facade material, takes part also in the garden design. The close spatial relationship between house and garden is underlined, and the effect of both increased in terms of relating to place and surroundings. The imagination of the residents is stimulated trought a clear unpretentious use of architectual language and space. The advantageous location surrounded by greenery and water is specifically used to complete the friendly residential atmosphere of the house.
